Functional matted floor area

This is where we hold our classes. When there are no classes you can use the whole space with no limitations, when there are classes on, you can still use the red matted area. Our functional floor space is perfect for things like core workouts and stretching. Working on your core is especially important if you are hoping to sharpen up your abdominals and build a stronger base from which to develop other aspects of your fitness. Think of your core muscles as the sturdy central link in a chain connecting your upper and lower body. Whether you’re hitting a tennis ball or mopping the floor, the necessary motions either originate in your core, or move through it.

Stretching will help you to maintain flexibility and retain the elasticity in your muscle fibres. This in turn will enable you to recover quicker and aid the repair of your muscles so that you can train again sooner and maintain a higher level of fitness.

We have a variety of equipment to use in this functional space to help keep your workouts interesting and progressive. Again, if you need any help or wish to be shown some new exercises just ask a member of staff to help you.

Solarium

If you want to build up a base tan before going away, extend the tan you got on holiday or just want to look great and have a year round glow; our state of the art vertical tanning units are the perfect solution. Sunbeds offer a controlled way to tan and can provide appropriate levels of UV to ensure sufficient levels of vitamin D are achieved and maintained.

Tanning in sunlight means the body can be subjected to different levels of UV rays, depending on the time of day, location in the world, month of the year and so on. With a sunbed a tanning programme can be developed to ensure skin type and the type of sunbed being used are taken into consideration. This helps to ensure that over exposure, including the possibility of burning, is avoided.
